Barbour x Wood Wood A/W 17 Collection.

As part of Wood Wood’s 15th anniversary, the Danish contemporary fashion and lifestyle brand is collaborating with global lifestyle and heritage brand Barbour to produce a capsule menswear collection for autumn/winter. Following on from Barbour creating a limited edition jacket for Wood Wood’s 10th anniversary in 2012, the two brands have joined forces again to produce a full collection for AW17 featuring jackets, sweats, shirts and accessories.

Mixing the practicality, fitness for purpose and durability that Barbour is known for with the modern design aesthetic that Wood Wood champions, classic Barbour pieces are given the Wood Wood treatment, creating a capsule of highly collectable pieces.

The famous wax jacket is updated first, with the removal of the front placket making a feature of Barbour’s iconic ring-pull zipper. Cord lined hand-warmer pockets, a thick quilted inner lining and a feature stowaway hood come as unique additions in the Valby Wax Jacket, whilst a warm pile-lining and storm-guard skirted hood add extra protection against the elements in the Souter Wax Jacket, which takes its name from a lighthouse on the North East coastline, only a stone’s throw from Barbour’s Headquarters in South Shields, UK.

The two Waterproof Breathable Jackets, the Kilde and the Amager, feature nautical blue and buoy orange pops of colour on the linings and the zips – a nod towards the maritime influence that is a constant source of inspiration for both brands, with Barbour being based close to the River Tyne and the North Sea, and Wood Wood being headquartered in Copenhagen, an old habour and maritime city. The Amager also boasts sealed seams, a longer length and three-layered fabric to enhance its durability.

The non-outerwear pieces feature the playful graphics that Wood Wood is known for, with trademark logo tees and sweats in pops of blue and pink, colours which are carried into the accessories with the navy and pink Valby scarf and hat featuring as signature pieces.

The main graphic feature the Barbour logo with the B tilted – a reference to 55th parallel north, the circle of latitude where the offices of both brands are located. Something that is also visible in the labels and prints which are angled.

Ian Bergin, Director of Menswear & Accessories said “This is a really exciting capsule collection that skillfully brings together Barbour’s iconic designs with Wood Wood’s Scandinavian design style. The use of pop colours on the linings and exposed zips make this a very distinctive collection for us, whilst still retaining the technical detail, durability and fitness for purpose that Barbour is known for”.

Wood Wood’s Co-Founder, Brian SS Jensen, commented “We’re happy to be working with Barbour again, building on our mutual appreciation of good design, combining modernity with tradition in a collection that I believe speaks to followers of both brands.

The collection will be available exclusively at woodwood.com and Wood Wood stores on September 9.

END clothing will launch the collection in store and online on September 16,and it will then be available to purchase from Barbour.com and selected stockists from September 23.
